Medcy IVF: Unifying Knowledge and Practical Aspects of IMSI

IVF procedures are challenging, time-consuming and exhaustive. The results, however, make the pain worth suffering. Holding a baby in your hands is a heavenly feeling for couples. On the contrary, failed IVF cycles are overwhelming. But our support and helping hand are constant, regardless of your situation. Learn about IMSI and how we assist you throughout the procedure.

    What is IMSI?

IMSI is an acronym for Intra Cytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection. It is a specific type of ICSI (IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection), which is again a specialised IVF (In vitro fertilisation).

IVF allows fertilisation of the egg (from woman) and sperm (from man) on their own. ICSI goes a step ahead by requiring the procedure to directly inject the sperm into an egg as a part of fertilisation. IMSI is more specific that requires selecting the best sperm by visualising via high microscopic resolution. It involves selecting the best sperm based on their morphology, or shape and structure. Specifically, the embryologist will look at the parts of sperm, matching it with the quality ones. The couples interested in such infertility treatment must note that the use of conventional IVF is constantly increasing and hence deeply studied.

    When Do Couples Need IMSI?

The requirement arises in the medical condition of:

What Are the Processes Involved in IMSI?

The IMSI procedure is the same as IVF except for sperm selection. Hence, as per the conventional IVF procedures, the females consume advised drugs for superovulation, followed by egg collection. The partners’ sperm are collected and selected on x6000 microscopic resolution. It allows efficient and magnified visualisation of sperm’s structure compared to ICSI, where x200 - 400 resolution is considered.

The abnormal sperm are discarded while the selected sperm is selected and injected into the egg. The egg and sperm-fused cell is further monitored for development. Post successful development, about one to three embryos are inserted into the uterus for implantation and natural pregnancy.

    How Does Medcy IVF Help?

IMSI requires an expert team of doctors, embryologists, and well-equipped instruments. The procedure is performed to diagnose a specific type of male infertility. Besides, the couple’s interest, medical history and desired treatment location may vary too, based on their previous experiences and rate of IVF cycles.

Finding an appropriate treatment method and hospital or IVF clinic based on the stated and multiple criteria is challenging without expert advice. Experts at Medcy listen to your past, understands your present worries, expectations and any other requirements and provides the best-suited advice for you. With its ability to identify and utilise the best sperm, IMSI at Medcy has become a valuable tool in assisted reproductive technology.
